Elon Musk is an authority whose words mean a great deal for techie out there. That’s why a lot of companies have changed the horses in midstream after the recent statement by Elon Musk on flying car.
“Obviously, I like flying things,” Musk told Bloomberg. “But it’s difficult to imagine the flying car becoming a scalable solution”, said he.
Musk thinks that his idea of underground tunnels is also crazy but less crazy than flying cars. However, this doesn’t stop a lot of companies from pursing their Flying Car Dream.
Even Elon’s good friend Larry Page is funding a flying cars startup Zee. Aero. Uber is also trying it hand on flying cars to give its business more diversity which it is expected to launch by 2020.
Recently I stumbled upon a patent application which indicates they got another brother ready to airborne with his car. The patent indicates a company named CIAS Inc. wants to use drones for taxi services.
The patent application discloses a drone transportation service to carry a person from one location to another. This taxi drone has advanced safety operations. It will work like an Uber cab does.
You can summon a taxi drone by sending your location information. This info first will get sent to the regulatory authority of that place. Rest of the things will be taken care by the taxi service.
This taxi drone will be autonomous. And as soon as it gets your location information, it flies to your location to pick you up. To confirm that you are who you claim to be, you have to use biometric authentication, reads one embodiment of the patent application.
Once it confirms your identity, you will be airborne to your set location. After the touchdown, this drone sends a message to regulatory authority once again along with the flight path – this helps authority to send it to pick someone else.
So this was it. I don’t know the reaction of Elon Musk on this invention. I, however, would like to know yours. What do you think??
Although, drones are getting better each day as companies are working. Recently, Qualcomm has fixed a major problem in drone landing. Click to read.
